Lavish lashes

Us girls just love that extra effect in our appearance when we accentuate our eyelashes either it is through a volume mascara or through professional eyelash extensions.

Personally I am a huge fan of eyelash extensions and I also do them professionally for my clients. I regularily get a lot of questiones about eyelash extensions and I will go through some of them here.

What exactly are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash exensions are semipermanent lashes that are added to your own natural lashes with a additive. They are not to be confused with other types of loose or fake eyelashes that you can buy and put on yourself at home.

Lash extensions are applied with a semi-permanent adhesive to each of your individual natural lashes. They are expected to last from 3 to 6 weeks, and normally I advice my clients to get a top and tidy up about every three weeks.

Can anybody do semi-permanent lashes?

No. You should absolutely not try to do semi-permanent lashes by yourself. It is not even possible to do it on oneself. And as a general advice I always recomment to use a professional lash artist.

When I do lashes on my clients I always aim for the perfect result. I always consider the shape of the clients face and eyes when I decide how to proceed. It is also important to discuss with the client what effect we are going for.

Are all eyelash extensions alike?

No, there are different types of lashes. The most important thing to remember is that there are different quality of both lashes and additive. I always use the highest quality product for the best result on my clients.

There is also a difference in the effect you want. Some clients want a more natural effect and others want the full 5D volume. My personal favourite is to make the lashes look full and natural at the same time.

Are the lashes added seperately?

Yes, the lashes are added one by one to your own natural lashes. This is very delicate work and a session can take from 1-2 hours. I always put on some relaxing music and tell my clients to just take the moment to zone out and relax.

Can eyelash extensions be dangerous?

Eyelash extensions are not damaging to you, your eyes or your health. Some clients can develope an allergic reaction to the additive that is used. In those cases the reaction will appear in 1-2 days after the lashes are added. In most cases it is a mild and transient reaction that goes away within few days.

In cases with severe allergic reactions we use a mild solvent and each lash extension is gently removed. This will not damage your natural lashes.

Can eyelash extensions destroy my own natural lashes?

This is probably the most common question that I get, and the answer is no. When used properly, eyelash extensions are not damaging to your own natural lashes.

Our eyelashes go through growht cycles like the rest of the hair growing on our bodies. Eventually also eyelashes fall out. Normally we do not notice when a small eyelash fall out, but with the extensions this becomes a lot more noticeable to us.

Eyelash extensions are safe!

When done properly and with a professional therapist eyelash extensions are safe. If you are considering lash extensions for the very first time, my best advice is find yourself a professional therapist and be involved with the products you want them to use and the look you want to achieve.

Good luck and enjoy!
